Error handling in asp.net

March 27, 2008

There are three error modes in which an ASP.Net application can work:

  1. Off Mode
  2. On Mode
  3. RemoteOnly Mode

After the Page_Error is called, the Application_Error func called. Here you can also log the error and redirect to another page.

Order of error handling events is as follows:

  1. On the Page itself, in the Page_Error sub (this is default, you can name it anything because it specificed Handles MyBase.Error)
  2. The global.asax Application_Error sub
  3. The web.config file
